For all the family!
Since April 2005, the much-appreciated tourist destination of La Roche-en-Ardenne has boasted a newly renovated attraction: La Roche Stoneware, The Ardennes throughout the time.
It offers its visitors a chance to discover the uses of stoneware through the centuries, from the earth to the table, in a modern display.
The long history of La Roche stoneware has taken a new turning. Founded in 1878 by the Kalb family, the La Roche blue stoneware pottery, which was already part of a long local tradition of working clay, was purchased in 1977 by local entrepreneur Jules Jacqmard.
La Roche Stoneware, The Ardennes throughout the time, is now an invitation to enter the multimedia world of La Roche Stoneware, but also that of Ardennes ham, from its production in traditional farms to the table, where you can try it for yourself.
Visitors are immediately plunged into the history of our region, with stoneware as the guiding thread. As soon as you cross the threshold, wearing the audio commentary headphones to guide you in your own language (French, Dutch, English, German), you will discover the origins of stoneware, from the clay quarry to the potter's workshop, and its many uses for practical and artistic purposes. The visit also includes a journey into a multimedia exhibition about Ardennes ham.
